Leaders of change

The training program is designed for teachers, doctors, social workers, and other front-line professionals focusing on enhancing their emotional resilience. The primary objective of the program is to equip the abovementioned professionals with effective stabilization techniques so that they can handle stressful situations and provide aid to their communities.

Leaders of change

Due to the full-scale invasion by Russia, tens of thousands of Ukrainian women and children were forced to leave their homes, having experienced occupation, constant shelling, family separation, or loss of loved ones. These and other traumatic experiences have led to the development of trauma-related disorders and conditions (such as PTSD, anxiety, and depressive disorders) among women and children.

Psychological support is crucial for Ukrainians, necessitating not only professional assistance but also community-based care. Unfortunately, the existing mental care system had not been fully established before the full-scale invasion by Russia and is now unable to meet the demand. Therefore, individuals such as teachers, doctors, and social workers often act as "psychologists". The burden of the war is most acutely felt by both those seeking reassurance and support and the specialists who interact with them.
This is why the "Masha Fund" has launched the "Leaders of Change" project, a training program designed for first-level specialists. This program aims to improve the mental health and emotional stability of Ukrainian teachers, doctors, and others, while also teaching them to manage crises among employees, overcome stress, and help stabilize the mental state of those around them. The trained specialists will become leaders of change in their communities, reducing burnout and stress levels, providing psychological support to their wards, and improving the overall mental health of those around them. When people seek help from doctors, teachers, and social workers, they should feel supported and know that they are not alone with their problems.

Currently, training under the "Leaders of Change'' project takes place in Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, and Odesa regions.

It has been proven through the experience of other war-torn countries that the availability of trained mental health professionals able to provide psychological first aid is essential for the communities to recover. Such support is of utmost importance for Ukraine, both in the present and in the years to come.

As a part of the Masha Fund project,
we conduct psycho-educational training to teach psycho-emotional stabilization methods and psychological first aid skills, and improve general psychological training;
we provide specialized training on mental health to increase the awareness of first-line professionals about mental health, which allows them to recognize mental health disorders or acute conditions and provide support;
the most proactive training participants will be able to undergo professional training for "Self-help +" facilitators and become partners of the "Masha Fund" NGO. Our partners will run support groups for their communities, thereby improving the mental health of those around them. This service involves remuneration.
In 2023-2024, we will implement the project in Kyiv and Mykolaiv regions, which have received many internally displaced persons needing help.

The mission of the "Masha Fund" is the revival of women for the sake of the revival of Ukraine. The "Leaders of Change" project is a step toward this goal.
